Milk Jug Bird Bath & Peanut Butter Bird Feeders

Last year we had a lot of fun making peanut butter bird feeders. Our son, C, in particular loved it so much, he wanted to do it again this year, but also add a bird bath. He could see all those birds starting to gather in our backyard and wanted to give them a place to get water and bathe. So, we set to work gathering our supplies.

The bird bath was very simple. C wanted the bath to have a covering on it so we took a gallon milk jug and cut a large hole in the side of it. We then cut a length of yarn, put both into the opening at the top and screwed on the cap. That is what we used to hang the bird bath in our tree.

Last year we used crushed corn seeds to make our bird feeders, but we didn't have any this year. So, to make our peanut butter bird feeders, we covered two toilet paper tubes in peanut butter. Then we rolled them in crushed oatmeal and peanuts. This worked perfectly!

And then my lovely mom (and always willing participant) helped us hang them in the tree.

  1. We always love using recycled materials around here, so this is a must do! Thanks so much for such a simple idea. The Clubhouse kids are going to love making these, and watching the birds come enjoy them!
